Washington State to Release Compensation Bureau for Vacated Drug Convictions

In reaction to a Washington state Supreme Court landmark choice that voided the state’s drug belongings law as unconstitutional, the state will introduce a central bureau and online website to repay court-ordered fines and expenses paid by those who have actually had their convictions abandoned, according to a court system press release.

On Feb. 25, 2021, the Washington Supreme Court chose State v. Blake, which stated the state’s drug belongings law to be unconstitutional and void due to the fact that it didn’t need individuals founded guilty under the law to understand the drug belongings, the release stated.
