There’s much to appreciate about Raf’s, the brand-new downtown New York City Italian dining space and bakeshop. Inhabiting a store in a century-old structure on Elizabeth Street, Post Business’s style, in their words, “commemorates the tradition of the European haunt” by telegraphing an unwinded magnificence.
Amongst the numerous information to value: the zinc bar, vintage candlesticks transformed into lights, and making use of crisp double table linens for, as Post Business puts it, “a healthy dosage of procedure.” The latter is an appearance that’s simple to reproduce in the house, so we chose to learn more.
Above: The dining-room set for supper: the color of the mohair, Post Business partner Leigh Salem keeps in mind, “tears down pretense in favor of event.” Raf’s co-owner Nicole Vitagliano informs us they sourced the table linens–” with a black bourdon-stitched stripe”– from Tessicasa, providers of Italian linens to dining establishments and hotels. If the leading layer requires cleansing, it can be blended off and the table stays dressed.
