Insurance bill for summer wildfires in Greece nears €50 mln

Settlement payable by insurance provider for home damage caused throughout the wildfires in the summertime of 2023 is approximated at practically 49 million euros, according to a report put together by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Provider (HAIC), launched on Thursday.

The report issues fire damage in Greece in the months of July (at Saronida, Rhodes, Loutraki and Anchialos) and August (at Fyli, Aspropyrgos, Viotia, Kavala and Evros).

According to information supplied by insurance provider for the report, an overall of 403 claims were signed up, of which 387 associate with home insurance coverage (EUR48.65 mln), 9 claims worrying vehicles (EUR43,000) and 7 for transport insurance coverage (EUR85,000).

This quantity is the biggest on record to be paid in Greece for damage throughout forest fires, kept in mind the head of HAIC’s Residential or commercial property, Reinsurance, Freight & & Hull Committee, Henry Moatsos.
